Episode 31 How Nonprofit Can Build a Strong Fundraising Culture with Elizabeth Abel featured blog post image

Episode 31: How Nonprofit Can Build a Strong Fundraising Culture with Elizabeth Abel

Episode 31 How Nonprofit Can Build a Strong Fundraising Culture with Elizabeth Abel featured blog post image

If there’s anything that Elizabeth Abel has learned from working in the nonprofit space, it’s that philanthropy plays a critical role in uplifting the most vulnerable communities.

But with the pandemic rampaging across the world, how are nonprofits even staying afloat?

I mean, aren’t people barely getting by because of the current state of the global economy?

Well, some people might think that charitable institutions and nonprofit efforts have slowed down, but according to Elizabeth, the pandemic has only made the resolve of the givers and the helpers even stronger. In fact, it looks like there’s no stopping the outpour of generosity from sponsors and donors, especially when they truly believe and trust a cause!

So, how can nonprofits assure donors that their money is creating positive change + become more effective advocates for social change and social justice?

Elizabeth says that BUILDING A STRONG FUNDRAISING TEAM & CULTURE, is a key factor in inspiring more people who were not initially drawn to philanthropic activities to take action and enable those already working in nonprofit to champion the cause without burning themselves out.

But there’s still so much more to this than meets the eye, so join me and my amazing guest – Elizabeth Abel – as we discuss and understand the true essence behind philanthropy, the fundraising landscape during the pandemic, the importance of bridging the communication gap between the finance and fundraising teams, and what it really takes to build a strong fundraising team and culture.

This has been such a wonderful conversation and I’m sure you’ll learn a lot, more than the fundraising tips, we also talk about the joy that comes with doing good for others. So, tune in and share it with your inner circle!

“I believe that nonprofits are addressing some of the most important social issues of our time. The gas in their engine is philanthropy and charitable gifts.”
– Elizabeth Berni Abel

What you’ll learn in this episode:

  • Elizabeth Abel’s experiences in the philanthropic landscape and what it’s been like during the pandemic.
  • The importance of opening up the doors for communication between finance and fundraising teams.
  • Elizabeth’s insight on how to build a strong fundraising team and culture.
  • How to fundraise when you don’t have the budget to hire professional staff
  • How organizations can leverage storytelling to inspire action.
  • Tips on how to pull inspirational stories and what stories to tell.

Episode 30: How Two Marketers are Disrupting the Nonprofit World with Jon McCoy and Becky Endicott

episode-30 jon mccoy and becky endicott blog post featured image

In this episode, I share a conversation with Jon McCoy and Becky Endicott from We Are For Good, about a topic that’s near and dear to my heart – nonprofits and changing the world.

I’ve actually been on their podcast as well and we had SO MUCH FUN. I feel like we could have gone on for hours, they’re my newfound besties, and you’re going to flip at just how down-to-earth these folks are!

Jon and Becky knew each other since college and both started out their careers in marketing. Becky Endicott was a marketer and writer, while Jon McCoy was a designer. They both served the nonprofit sector through the Oklahoma State University Foundation.

And it was at this formative time, when they were entering into a billion dollar fundraising campaign, that they fell in love with the transformative power of philanthropy.

Can you imagine two ridiculously young, ridiculous idealists, building the marketing for a billion dollar campaign?! Well, long story short, they pulled through and thus began their journey through their fundraising careers.

But this dynamic duo wasn’t quite satisfied, they wanted to give back MORE and still have time to be with their families!

I mean, who says they can’t have both, right?!

And so, WE ARE FOR GOOD was born.

Join us on this episode as we discuss how they turned their love for philanthropy into a thriving fundraising consultancy business committed to social impact initiatives.

They’ll be sharing what it’s like to be two marketers in the nonprofit sector, the social impact of fundraising and volunteering, & how they’re nurturing the younger generations interested in forging their path in the philanthropic space.

So, make sure you tune in!

“Is the business we’re building, the business that we want to live in?” – Jon McCoy

“If you can invest some of that into yourself, then it will grow the mission exponentially.” – Becky Endicott

“If we want to get better as a group, and as a sector, we need to constantly be learning.” – Stephanie Skryzowski

In this episode, we explore:

  • The story behind how Jonathan McCoy & Becky Endicott found and nurtured their passion for philanthropy and fundraising
  • What it’s like building a fundraising consultancy as marketers
  • How they are serving the younger generation interested in forging their path in the nonprofit sector
  • Social impact uprisings and how it can lead the world to a more philanthropic place

Episode 29 Podcast Featured Image Cailen Ascher on Honoring Your Energy to Build A Successful Six Figure Business

Episode 29: Honoring Your Energy to Build A Successful Six Figure Business with Cailen Ascher

Episode 29 Podcast Featured Image Cailen Ascher on Honoring Your Energy to Build A Successful Six Figure Business

Cailen Ascher did not build a successful 6-figure online coaching business by accident.

There, now you know.

In faaaaact, nobody in the history of anyone-who-has-ever-built-an-online-business-empire could have possibly grown a business by just ‘winging it.’

And not to sound like a broken record, but success – true success – requires attention, intention, and action.

Achieving success is by design and, honestly, I just had to discuss this with Cailen because Business and Lifestyle Coaching is her jam!!

If you haven’t heard of Cailen Ascher until recently, she is the amazing creator of Success Made Simple Accelerator™, a program that helps women attract their first clients with ONE high-ticket offer. She is widely known for helping her clients become $100K coaches.

Hold up, how am I acquainted with such a gem of a human, you ask?

Well, Cailen has been one of my favorite people on social media (for like… ever!), and that’s not just because she’s a kickass coach, but because her triumphs, her struggles, and her journey just resonated so much with me.

I’ve been on her podcast too and let me tell you… As a mom + entrepreneur myself, I am particularly at awe with how much a soulful business coach with a 3-day workweek has accomplished!

Seriously, sometimes not even a full week can cut it for most of us, and she legit runs her business on full steam in less than half of that. Like, HOW DID SHE EVEN…  (mindblown)

But that’s enough fangirling for now!

If you’re wondering how she’s able to transform the lives and businesses of thousands of women, then you better sit snug, turn the volume up, and take notes, my friend…

Because in this episode, we’re going to talk all about how honoring your energy can lead you to a life of purpose and abundance!!

“Coaching is a catalyst for quicker growth, quicker expansion, and gives you some shortcuts.”

In this episode, we explore:

  • Cailen Ascher’s insight on spirituality, mindset, and personal development
  • What her journey is like as a hands-on mom and business owner
  • How to become a $100k/year coach with a 3-day workweek

Episode 28: How We’ve Grown 400% in 4 Years

How We've Grown 400 percent in 4 Years featured blog post image

There are never any shortages of things that can be done to grow a business. We can build our audience through content marketing, refine our site SEO, create and implement an irresistible social media marketing strategy – the list goes on and on.

Want in on something top secret?

In my experience with building 100 Degrees Consulting up 400% within four years…

(nope, that is not a typo… we did grow by 400%!!

No business strategy would have a substantial impact on your business without this fundamental aspect:

BEING IN IT FOR THE LONG HAUL.

Your success does not rely on your $10,000 ad budget, not about working 80-hour work weeks… It’s not even about your burning desire to make a multi-million in the business!

After all, success happens when we take intentional and decisive action despite the obstacles – because we know that what lies beyond far outweighs the struggles and sacrifice.

It happens when we stay the course when the going gets tough (like, “I don’t want to do this anymore” tough).

It happens when we understand and accept that it does not happen overnight.

I mean, MY success most certainly did NOT happen overnight! And I can assure you that there are a lot of other entrepreneurs like me whose success also took time to unfold.

Oh my gosh! I still remember when 100 Degrees Consulting was in its early stages. I’ve tried creating courses, small information products, and other ‘shiny’ ideas you can think of.

But man, scaling my business has been such an exhilarating journey.

Honestly, I still can’t believe how it has expanded far beyond what I thought possible!

Now, I can’t speak for other businesses, but if you want to know how we channelled this “BEING IN IT FOR THE LONG HAUL” here at 100 Degrees Consulting (enough that it translated to 400% business growth), then you should tune in to today’s episode. I’ll share the 4 biggest reasons that made my business grow as much as it has in the last four years. And who knows? It just might be what your business needs to grow exponentially this 2021!!

“Any amount of growth is a result of hard work & effort that’s put in over the long haul.”

In this episode, we explore:

  • Why there’s no such thing as an overnight success story
  • What I’ve learned over the last 4 years of running my business
  • The four biggest reasons that helped my business grow by 400% within 4 years

Episode 25: The Four Elements of a Personal Brand with Mike Kim

The 4 Elements of a Personal Brand with Mike Kim featured blog post image

Have you ever seen-zoned and unfollowed people and wondered if the same thing is happening to YOUR personal brand?

A lot of people think that building a personal brand is easy. They are under the assumption that branding success lies in making the most noise, networking with the top industry experts, bearing your soul to the world, and getting the most number of likes… but this, at best, an incomplete concept.

You can be the loudest person in the room, but if there’s no value to what you’re preaching, it will not entice people to stay.

You can also be the smartest person in the room, but if your audience can’t relate to your story, then it won’t make them stay.

So, how do we stop all this tiptoeing around our audience and build a more sustainable relationship with them?

Joining us in this episode to dive deep into how we can build an authentic personal brand is my mentor, trailblazing brand strategist, renowned speaker, and author of the best selling book, ‘You Are the Brand: The 8-Step Blueprint to Showcase Your Unique Expertise and Build a Highly Profitable, Personally Fulfilling Business’ — MIKE KIM.

There’ll be a lot of AHA moments in this conversation that you do not want to miss!

“Branding is all about identity.”

In This Episode We Explore:

  • How to make your brand stand out in a near endless sea of (marketing) noise
  • The 4 components of a personal brand according to Mike Kim
  • What being authentic online means (and why oversharing doesn’t count as authenticity!)
  • The power of storytelling and what it can do for your business

Episode 23: The Most Boring Secret Weapon to Amplifying Your Brand with Jessi Robinson

I’m excited to introduce today’s podcast guest because not only is she one of my business besties, she’s also an amazing entrepreneur who runs an award-winning agency.

Jessi Robinson is the founder and creative director of PNP Creative, a branding and web design agency based in Kentucky. After spending more than a decade in a corporate communications role, Jessi founded PNP Creative. What began as a freelance side hustle has grown into an award-winning full-service agency.

She leads a creative team that works with community-driven organizations in Appalachia and beyond. Her company regularly works within the tourism, economic development, and community development sectors creating marketing materials that empower communities to tell their stories, attract their people, and help their region grow. She lives in Mount Sterling, Kentucky with her husband, two children, and beloved Doberman, Vinny. And when not leading the PMP creative team, you can most often find her on a nearby soccer field, cheering on her daughter, cringing at her son’s latest Daredevil dirt bike stunt, or playing with Vinny as often as she can.

Our conversation today is one that will help you approach branding from a whole new perspective and Jessi shares plenty of useful tips for those who are making a leap or shifting their businesses too. She also shares insight into the more challenging things she’s navigated. And, while she’s already my business bestie, I know you’ll love her too!

And so if you are representing one thing in your visual identity and in your messaging, then you’d better be backing that up with every client or partner interaction.

“If you are representing something in your visual identity and in your messaging, then you’d better be backing that up with every client interaction.”

In This Episode We Explore:

  • Why you should double down on consistency when it comes to growing your business
  • The three intersecting areas that make up your brand and what happens if they’re not in alignment
  • Why giving yourself a runway before a pivot or transition is so valuable and what that looked like for Jessi as she struck out on her own
  • What it means to have all of your branding should tie into your core values
  • How Jessi navigated the tougher things that come along with a big leap from solopreneur to agency owner
